Warner Robins Air Force Base Medical Clinic Realignment
Upgrade of two existing medical buildings into one cohesive ambulatory clinic. The challenge was to update the existing Medical Group facility (Building 700) by incorporating progressive medical home care models, while maintaining operations in the facility during the extensive renovation. It included the setup of a temporary 15,000-square-foot modular building and work done in four phases over two years. Walker Electric was responsible for signage and intercom systems, audio/visual system, fire alarm, dictation/transcription and charting systems, radio system, office automation, network equipment, telemetry systems, imaging systems and monitoring equipment and electronic signage, and providing arc flash study. This project provided the opportunity to meld this facility to a more recently completed adjacent building (Building 700A) that housed Mental Health and Public Health into a more seamless healthcare campus. It achieved LEED Silver certification.

Joint Ambulatory Care Facility
The Pensacola Joint Ambulatory Care Center is operated jointly by the VA and the U.S. Navy. The outpatient facility is situated on a 25-acre site on the grounds of the Naval Technical Training Center at Corry Station. This project was a design/build facility with a primary care clinic, full-service oncology, cardiology and surgery facilities; psychiatric services, physical medicine and rehabilitation service center, pharmacy, and eye, ear, and dental clinics; imaging center, exam rooms; as well as offices; cafeteria and security center for the VA and Navy personnel. The JACC features a mall-like design with a three-story atrium filled with natural light, providing energy efficient lighting as well as a sense of well-being for patients and visitors. The low-rise building presents an intimate, easy-access facility, despite its size of 213,500 SF.

Patrick Air Force Base
Walker Electric served as engineers for this design/build project to renovate and modernize the Patrick AFB, 45th Medical Group. The project was 60,000 square feet and equaled $3.2 million. It was part of a Nationwide Unrestricted MATOC for healthcare facilities for the U.S. Air Force Medical Services. The facility had remained open and actively treating patients throughout the four-phased renovation and upgrade of the circa 1960’s 75-bed, two story inpatient hospital that had been converted to an outpatient facility. This project reconfigured, realigned, and modernized the existing building and ancillary departments, such as the pharmacy and laboratory, as well as to support the latest technology and equipment, and a vastly improved lobby and waiting area. Working within the existing footprint of the hospital, the design emphasizes proper adjacency among departments, correcting major deficiencies in patient wayfinding, and creating a clinical environment that adheres to current standards and patient expectations.
